MacAusland’s Woolen Mills

MacAusland’s Woollen Mills is a family-owned business located in Prince Edward Island, operating since 1870. Initially a sawmill and gristmill, the company began producing woollen yarn in 1902 and its first blanket in 1932. Today, it is the only mill in Atlantic Canada that produces blankets made from 100% virgin wool. The mill prides itself on traditional craftsmanship, using some equipment that dates back over a century to create its signature products.

The MacAusland Blanket is a handcrafted gift item made from raw wool sourced throughout the Atlantic region. The production process involves washing, drying, carding, and spinning the wool, followed by weaving, fulling, and napping to create a soft and durable blanket.
